I switched phone providers to Videotron at the end of June 1997. I had been thinking about the Internet but the costs were too high for me; their offer of free local off peak calls was the golden opportunity that I had been waiting for. Also, having been with BT for some years, I thought that cheaper calls, packaged with free off peak calls, were too tempting to miss. I checked into the Videotron offer and got reassurance from them that the free calls would not be disappearing.

I signed up immediately and after a few teething troubles I must admit that I am saving a fortune on regular calls and getting the bonus of the free internet calls. After changing my phone went very quiet because nobody knew my new number. It took me a while to give everyone my new number and after a while it was business as usual. So if CWC remove free calls I will move back to BT as the initial saving that I was so happy to make will no longer apply and once again I will have to give everyone another new number. Boy what a hassle.

Come on CWC, get your act together and leave the free calls alone, just like you promised me!
