We had our first Videotron phone line installed in June 1993, and initially took no notice of the free local calls offer as we didn't know anyone with Videotron lines. Then Videotron's customer base began expanding rapidly and more and more people had Videotron lines so that we could take advantage of these calls.

When we purchased a modem in 1996 we had a second line installed for the express purpose of using free local calls to access the Internet. Currently, I use it quite heavily, and have made many contacts on it. It has proved invaluable for research purposes, but this takes time and could not be done as thoroughly if free local calls were removed because of the constant worry of a huge phone bill.

I would recommend that every disgusted Videotron customer call up CWC on 0181 244 1111, demanding free calls - if enough people did so they would have to take some notice.
