500 pledges! [27 May 1998]
At 11.44 tonight the five hundredth pledge was signed.
This is an absolutely extraordinary total. I said, to my partner when the pledge form first appeared in December, that we would be lucky to get a couple of dozen pledges. I am wrong, so far, by only a factor of twenty ...
My thanks to everyone who has signed, everyone who hasn't signed but who has supported Cable and Wireless Watch and, especially, the staff of Total Connectivity Providers who featured the campaign in their first (May 1998) newsletter. This was emailed to all TCP subscribers and has sparked off a tremendous amount of interest.
Of course, that a psychological landmark has been reached is no reason to stop, so please keep the pledges coming.
